For those days when you don’t have anything exciting in the fridge, but feel like dessert anyway. This hides all its goodness under a thin curtain of chocolate ice cream; but because the fruit is frozen you don’t need very much ice cream to give it the milkshake feel. Just a couple of spoons will do, then throw in whatever fruit you want and some milk to stop it from becoming completely solid. Eat from the glass with a spoon, or leave it to melt a little and drink. Try not to get it all over your face.

Chocolate cherry banana milkshake

2 tablespoons chocolate ice cream
100g frozen cherries, stoned and halved (I think it goes without saying these should be prepared before you freeze them)
1/2 banana, sliced (can be frozen too, they go a bit brown in the freezer but otherwise taste fine)
200 ml milk

1. Put all the ingredients in a blender and blend for 1 minute or until smooth. Add some more milk, if necessary, to thin it out a little and make it more drinkable.

Serve, if you’re feeling fancy, with a flake stuck in the top.
